Online TOC analyser
Total organic carbon from the same UV–visible spectrum, as standard
Total organic carbon (TOC) is the carbon bound in the organic matter of the effluent. Some consents and industries ask for it alongside COD. The SYZE-OCEMS-8P gives TOC from the same UV–visible spectrum, as one of its eight standard parameters.

About TOC
- Where it is asked for
- Some consents list TOC; your consent to operate says whether yours does.
- From the same probe
- No second analyser: TOC comes with COD, BOD, TSS, turbidity and temperature.
- Checked against the laboratory
- Laboratory TOC analysers oxidise the sample and measure the carbon dioxide; the online value is compared with them at commissioning.
- Sent only where needed
- Each parameter can be switched on or off for each board.
Questions
Do we need TOC if our consent does not ask for it?
No. It is measured anyway as one of the eight parameters, and you choose whether it is sent to a board.
Is TOC the same as COD?
No. COD is the oxygen needed to oxidise the effluent, TOC the carbon in its organic matter. They usually move together, and both are measured.
The analyser and the other parameters
- Online water quality analyser (8 parameters)Our main product: eight parameters as standard, made in India
- COD analyserChemical oxygen demand measured continuously at the outlet, without reagents
- BOD analyserContinuous BOD at the outlet, when the laboratory test takes three days
- TSS analyserTotal suspended solids measured continuously, by optical absorption and scatter
- pH analyserpH at the outlet on its own port, with automatic temperature compensation
- Turbidity analyserHow clear the effluent is, measured continuously as scattered light
- TemperatureA PT100 sensor built into the optical probe
- FlowFlow turns concentrations into loads, and every OCEMS station reports it
