Effluent flow measurement

Flow turns concentrations into loads, and every OCEMS station reports it

Flow turns concentrations into loads: the same COD means twice the pollution at twice the flow, and every OCEMS station reports it. In the SYZE-OCEMS-8P it comes from an electromagnetic flow meter on the outfall line, or from a Parshall flume with an ultrasonic level probe where the outfall is an open channel.

Getting flow right

Full pipe
An electromagnetic meter where the outfall pipe always runs full.
Open channel
A Parshall flume with a non-contact ultrasonic probe where it does not.
Inlet, outlet and bypass
Many PHED tenders ask for flow on the inlet and the outlet; bypass lines are measured too.
Volumes in the reports
Daily and monthly volumes in the dashboard's reports.

Questions

A pipe meter or a flume?

It depends on the outfall: a pipe that runs full takes an electromagnetic meter, an open channel a flume.

Can an existing flow meter be used?

Often yes, if it gives its readings over Modbus; we check it on site.

Send us the outfall's pipe size or channel width and we will propose the flow measurement.
