Before OCEMS installation: what to prepare

Power, internet, space and papers, ready before the team arrives

An installation goes smoothly when the site is ready, and can stall for weeks when it is not. This is what we ask a plant to arrange before our team arrives.

Power and internet

  • A 230 V AC, 5 A power point with earthing near the installation point
  • A 1 kVA online UPS, so the station keeps running through power cuts
  • Internet by LAN cable from the router, or a mobile SIM with reliable coverage at the panel

Space and sampling

  • Weatherproof wall space about 3 ft wide by 5 ft high, near the outfall
  • The panel within 5 to 7 m of the outlet sampling point; further away, a 30 to 40 litre tank with a recirculation pump
  • A measuring point where the flow meter's pipe runs full, or an open channel for a flume

People and papers

  • Mechanical, electrical and helper manpower during installation
  • The consent to operate, outfall details and station particulars, for registration on the portals
  • Any credentials the boards have already issued for your station

On installation day

  1. Survey

We confirm the sampling point, cable routes and power.

  2. Installation

Instruments and the panel installed and cabled.

  3. Configuration

The data logger set up and each instrument checked.

  4. Registration and testing

The station registered on the portals and its first readings confirmed as accepted.

  5. Handover

Your staff shown the panel and the dashboard, and told whom to call.

See it working

Send us photos of the outfall and the panel location, and we will tell you what else is needed.
